The Big Old Building, also known as B.O.B., has been part of the Grand Rapid city scene for over a hundred years. First constructed as a grocery warehouse in 1903, this mammoth building is a whopping 70,000-square-foot building stands four stories tall. Although used as a grocery warehouse for years, the Big Old Building eventually fell into disuse. Standing empty for years, B.O.B. almost suffered the fate of so many great buildings of yesteryear. However, The Gilmore Collection decided to save the building from destruction and transform it in to a modern wonderland. Constructed with bricks and mortar, B.O.B. exudes old world charm while being big enough to accommodate the modern lifestyle.

Traditional eateries 

The Big Old Building is known for a wide selection of world-class restaurants. Judson’s Steakhouse is a prime destination for many, inviting people from around the world to come and dine. The restaurant has won numerous awards in the Grand Rapids food scene, Judson’s focus is on providing the highest quality beef to the discerning customer. Gilly’s, on the other hand, is aimed at those that love micro-brews and good food. With a wide selection of beers and small plate offerings, Gilly’s is the destination for those that want a bit more pub-like experience.

B.O.B. also offers options for pizza pies and beer drinkers everywhere. Although Bobarino’s Pizzeria serves a stellar and famous pizza, that isn’t all that is served up. Bobarino’s is known as much for the music and entertainment as it is for the food. It is a good place to visit for both a meal and entertainment. Also housed within the mammoth confines of B.O.B is Grand Rapids own B.O.B.’s Brewery. This Brewery has new life, creating ales that are acclaimed city-wide. With a new Brew master, the Brewery has a new lease on life. The B.O.B.’s Brewery doesn’t just serve drinks, but also has a wide selection of delicious food.

Nightlife

The B.O.B. isn’t just about food. The building doesn’t really get going until the evening, when the life really starts. Club life is represented on the weekends through the Crush Nightclub. Open Thursday through Sunday, this club offers over the top events. For a laugh on the weekend, Dr. Grins is the place to go. This comedy club offers up nationally known headliners and local favorites in an intimate atmosphere.
