This special Park draws visitors not only from the area, but also from around the world. In fact, it is the second most popular tourist attraction in the state and, as far as art museums go, it is one of the 100 most visited in the entire world.

Blend of Nature and Art
The park melds horticulture and sculpture on a 132-acre tract of land where both indoor and outdoor gardens, including a 5-acre Children’s Garden, invite guests to linger, learn and enjoy. Nature trails provide a walking experience, while a tram provides comfort for those who wish to ride instead of walk while experiencing both nature and art in unforgettable settings.

Renown Artists
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park offers the state’s largest tropical conservatory, along with works from such art luminaries as Degas, Miro and Rodin. The Park includes both rotating and permanent exhibits throughout the year. A visit to the park takes more than an hour or two to enjoy. There is so much to see and experience that visitors should plan to spend the entire day at the park.

Something for Everyone
While those who appreciate art will drink in the magnificent art pieces, others take in how art blends with the gardens leaving memories not soon to be erased. The park caters to families as well as individuals.

Visitors can check out the Japanese Garden, the Michigan’s Farm Garden, the Sculpture Park, the Victorian Garden or one of the other carefully designed and executed garden displays. Visitors can stop in at Taste of the Gardens Café or enjoy a summer concert at the amphitheater. When your feet start smarting, you can rest in one of the comfort centers available throughout the park.

History and Purpose
It took over thirteen years to create the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park attraction, which opened to the public April 1995. The name is a tribute to Fred and Lena Meijer who backed the concept with their support. The park is funded through private grants to the non-profit organization that supports 200 part and full-time staff along with 800 volunteers. The goal of the park is to meld not only art and nature, but also education and enjoyment.
