The Hilariously Fun Hit And Run 5K Comes To Grand Rapids May 17

If you are looking for a fun and exciting time that also benefits a great cause, then don’t miss out on the Hit and Run 5K that is scheduled May 17, beginning at 9 a.m. in Millennium Park, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Around 75% of the proceeds will go towards grants to local hospitals and community outreach organizations to help fund breast cancer screenings, mammograms, biopsies, genetic testing and breast health education for those who are uninsured or could not otherwise afford these services. The other 25% of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Grants Project for further groundbreaking breast cancer research.

This event takes place on a huge obstacle course that is designed like a giant’s bounce house, and it will have you laughing all the way through. Everyone is welcome, and a special time has even been set aside for parents who want to take their children through beginning at 11 a.m. You might plan on getting wet while you slip and slide your way through this course. There are several really different activities included in this special 5k.

Worm Walk

Every great athlete must warm up, and you will have the opportunity to do just that before you begin the actual course. This is a balance beam that teeters and totters that you must make your way across while watching out for some surprises.

Duck or Dive

You can choose from any of six balance beams to try to cross over the pools without falling in. Giant, spinning balls will be doing their best to knock you off the beams for a nice swim.

Wobble Walk

Are you ready to move fast? This part requires you to try to run over posts that wiggle and wobble the entire time in an effort to throw you off.

Whacking Wall

You have to try to walk along the whacking wall without being blindsided by any wet flying objects that would like to knock you off.

Bouncy Bridge

You must cross the bridge to claim victory. But, it is sort of like trying to run across a giant trampoline that wants to keep bouncing you straight up in the air.

Slippery Slopes

Try to keep your balance while crossing the skinny bridge while making your way around and under objects in your path. That may seem hard enough, but you also have to worry about the four dodge ball cannons that you have to cross directly in front of that will be firing at you repeatedly.

For those planning to attend the event from out of town, the Hyatt Place Grand Rapids Hotel is ready to take care of the needs of all participants.
